Hi,

In internet marketing, web site traffic is the prominent. There are different tactics to increase website traffic. To include all the prominent keywords is very important.I know one site which has more information on keyword research tools.

Great example of working many marketing metrics into a good ROI analysis. Two thoughts I would add.

1) Many marketers are faced with limited budgets and might be forced to choose between the better of those two products. We ultimately want the ROI analysis to provide solid data that lets us go back to the CFO and show them that we have 2 programs running over 100% ROI. This justifies our request for additional budget to fund marketing for both products.

2) We want to make sure ROI is used as guide for improvements and not a pass/fail analysis. If your analysis ended at the point where the ROI was 6.25%, your mission should be to experiment with different search terms and rates to determine how to bring that up. You'll scale back the total budget while you are in learning mode and then increase it when you meet your financial objectives. It's generally better to improve an under-performing marketing program than to start over.

Great job communicating the benefits of a quality ROI analysis Akin.

Hi Jim,

Oh wow, much obliged to you for finding this and adding your well taken advice! You are very right. Much of optimizing Search marketing includes things like landing page optimization rather than just optimal budget allocation.

Everyone,

Jim Lenskold is in fact the author of the book referenced here, Marketing ROI: The Path to Campaign, Customer, and Corporate Profitability. An eye opening book that was the inspiration for this post. I highly recommend. It should be on every marketer's desktop.

PPA and PPC are getting a lot of rave reviews wherever you go lately. I must say, traffic is the number one priority of each and every marketer out there.
